Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Takes Serious Note of Demolition of Mosques in Rajasthan Border Districts
High-Level Delegation Visits Affected Areas; Legal Options Under Consideration
New Delhi, June 20, 2026: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has strongly protested the demolition of mosques, shrines and other religious structures in the border districts of Rajasthan, describing the actions as a serious infringement upon constitutional rights, religious freedom and the right to worship.
In view of the prevailing situation, a high-level delegation was deputed to Rajasthan on the instructions of Jamiat president Maulana Mahmood Madani. The delegation, led by Maulana Mufti Mohammad Affan Mansoorpuri, president of Jamiat Ulama Uttar Pradesh, arrived in Jodhpur on Saturday to assess the ground situation.
A meeting with the representatives of the affected mosques and madrasas was held in Barmer, where the present situation and future legal strategy were discussed in detail. The delegation assured the affected residents that they were not alone and that Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind would stand firmly by them.
In a message conveyed to the gathering, Jamiat president Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani said that the organisation would continue to make every possible effort to safeguard religious freedom and protect places of worship.
The delegation also questioned the one-sided actions reportedly being carried out under the so-called “Operation Clean” campaign. It observed that if these religious sites had not posed any threat to national security for centuries, declaring them a security concern overnight was not only surprising but also contrary to the principles of justice and reason.
The delegation further maintained that the demolitions amounted to a clear violation of the directions issued by the Supreme Court and raised concerns regarding contempt of court.
Calling upon the authorities to immediately halt unilateral actions against religious places, the delegation urged the government to uphold the rule of law and ensure equal protection of constitutional rights for all citizens. It said that targeting places of worship could not strengthen the nation and that constitutional supremacy, equal justice and protection of citizens rights constituted the true foundation of national unity and security.
The delegation also appealed to members of the Muslim community to turn towards prayer and supplication, remain steadfast in faith, keep mosques active through congregational prayers and maintain peace and communal harmony.
Providing details of the situation, Jamiat vice-president Qari Mohammad Amin Pokaran and Rajasthan Jamiat General Secretary Maulana Abdul Wahid Khatri said consultations were under way with senior advocates practising in the Supreme Court and various High Courts and that legal action would be initiated shortly.
According to them, several mosques, shrines and other religious structures have been demolished in the western Rajasthan districts of Bikaner, Phalodi, Jaisalmer and Barmer. Four mosques have reportedly been demolished in Bikaner, while nine mosques and several shrines have been razed in Phalodi, Jaisalmer and Barmer. Notices have also been issued to a number of other religious sites.
Among the structures facing action is the nearly 250-year-old shrine of Hazrat Mahmood Shah Jilani situated on the Ramgarh-Tanot bypass road in Jaisalmer.
The leaders noted that Rajasthans border region shares an approximately 900-kilometre international boundary with the neighbouring country and has historically been home to substantial Muslim populations even before the Partition of India. The centuries-old mosques, shrines and places of worship, they said, form an integral part of the regions historical and cultural heritage.
The delegation comprised Maulana Mufti Syed Mohammad Affan Mansoorpuri, president of Jamiat Ulama Uttar Pradesh; Maulana Mohammad Qasim Noori Qasmi, president of Jamiat Ulama Delhi; Advocate Mohammad Tayyab Khan of the Delhi High Court; and Mufti Mohammad Hassan Ibrahim Qasmi, secretary of Jamiat Ulama Delhi.
Representing the Rajasthan unit were Maulana Habibullah Qasmi, president of Jamiat Ulama Rajasthan; Maulana Mohammad Ilyas Qasmi, Nazim-e-Tanzeem; Maulana Noor Mohammad, Maulana Malook, Sher Mohammad, Maulana Hashim, Maulana Ali Mohammad and other local office-bearers.
राजस्थान के सीमावर्ती जिलों में मस्जिदों के अवैध ध्वस्तीकरण पर जमीयत उलेमा-ए-हिन्द का कड़ा संज्ञान
उच्च स्तरीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल का दौरा, कानूनी कार्रवाई पर विचार
नई दिल्ली/जोधपुर, 20 जून 2026: राजस्थान के सीमावर्ती जिलों में मस्जिदों, दरगाहों तथा अन्य धार्मिक स्थलों के ध्वस्तीकरण पर जमीयत उलेमा-ए-हिन्द ने कड़ा विरोध दर्ज करते हुए इसे संवैधानिक अधिकारों, धार्मिक स्वतंत्रता तथा इबादत के अधिकार पर गंभीर आघात बताया है। परिस्थितियों का जायजा लेने के लिए जमीयत उलेमा-ए-हिन्द के अध्यक्ष मौलाना महमूद असद मदनी के निर्देश पर आज एक उच्च स्तरीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल, जमीयत उलेमा उत्तर प्रदेश के अध्यक्ष मौलाना मुफ्ती सैयद मोहम्मद अफ्फान मंसूरपुरी के नेतृत्व में राजस्थान पहुँचा।
इस अवसर पर बाड़मेर में प्रभावित मस्जिदों एवं मदरसों के जिम्मेदारों के साथ एक महत्वपूर्ण बैठक आयोजित की गई, जिसमें वर्तमान स्थिति तथा भविष्य की कानूनी रणनीति पर विस्तार से विचार-विमर्श किया गया। प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने स्थानीय लोगों को आश्वस्त किया कि वे इस कठिन समय में अकेले नहीं हैं, बल्कि जमीयत उलेमा-ए-हिन्द उनके साथ पूरी मजबूती से खड़ी है।
इस अवसर पर प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने तथाकथित ‘ऑपरेशन क्लीन’ के अंतर्गत की जा रही एकतरफा कार्रवाई पर गंभीर प्रश्न उठाते हुए कहा कि यदि ये पूजा स्थल और धार्मिक स्थान सदियों से राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के लिए कोई खतरा नहीं थे, तो अचानक उन्हें खतरा घोषित करना न केवल आश्चर्यजनक है, बल्कि न्याय और तर्क के भी विरुद्ध है। दूसरी ओर यह कार्रवाई सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के आदेशों का प्रत्यक्ष उल्लंघन तथा न्यायालय की अवमानना है।
प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने सरकार से मांग की कि धार्मिक स्थलों के विरुद्ध एकतरफा कार्रवाइयों को तत्काल रोका जाए, कानून के शासन को सुनिश्चित किया जाए तथा सभी नागरिकों के संवैधानिक अधिकारों की समान रूप से रक्षा की जाए। प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने स्पष्ट किया कि पूजा स्थलों को निशाना बनाकर देश को मजबूत नहीं किया जा सकता। संविधान की सर्वोच्चता, समान न्याय तथा सभी नागरिकों के अधिकारों की रक्षा ही राष्ट्रीय एकता और वास्तविक राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा की बुनियाद है।
प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने मुस्लिम समुदाय से अपील की कि वे मस्जिदों को सामूहिक नमाज़ के माध्यम से आबाद रखें तथा शांति और कानून-व्यवस्था बनाए रखें।
स्थिति की जानकारी देते हुए जमीयत उलेमा-ए-हिन्द के उपाध्यक्ष कारी मोहम्मद अमीन पोकरण तथा जमीयत उलेमा राजस्थान के महासचिव मौलाना अब्दुल वहीद खत्री ने बताया कि इस मामले में सर्वोच्च न्यायालय तथा उच्च न्यायालय के वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ताओं से परामर्श जारी है और शीघ्र ही कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
उन्होंने बताया कि पश्चिमी राजस्थान के बीकानेर, फलोदी, जैसलमेर और बाड़मेर जिलों में अब तक अनेक मस्जिदों, दरगाहों तथा अन्य धार्मिक स्थलों को ध्वस्त किया जा चुका है। बीकानेर में चार मस्जिदें जबकि फलोदी, जैसलमेर और बाड़मेर में नौ मस्जिदें एवं अनेक दरगाहों को ध्वस्त कर दिया गया है। इसके अतिरिक्त कई अन्य धार्मिक स्थलों को नोटिस भी जारी किए गए हैं। इनमें जैसलमेर के रामगढ़-तनोट बाईपास रोड पर स्थित लगभग ढाई सौ वर्ष पुरानी हज़रत महमूद शाह जिलानी की दरगाह भी शामिल है।
उन्होंने आगे कहा कि राजस्थान का यह सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र पड़ोसी देश से लगभग नौ सौ किलोमीटर लंबी सीमा से जुड़ा हुआ है और विभाजन से पूर्व से ही यहाँ बड़ी संख्या में मुस्लिम आबादी निवास करती रही है। सदियों से स्थापित मस्जिदें, दरगाहें और अन्य धार्मिक स्थल स्थानीय इतिहास एवं सांस्कृतिक विरासत का अभिन्न हिस्सा हैं।
जमीयत उलेमा-ए-हिन्द के प्रतिनिधिमंडल में जमीयत उलेमा उत्तर प्रदेश के अध्यक्ष मौलाना मुफ्ती सैयद मोहम्मद अफ्फान मंसूरपुरी, जमीयत उलेमा दिल्ली के अध्यक्ष मौलाना मोहम्मद कासिम नूरी कासमी, दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता एडवोकेट मोहम्मद तैयब खान तथा जमीयत उलेमा दिल्ली के सचिव मुफ्ती मोहम्मद हस्सान इब्राहीम कासमी शामिल हैं।
वहीं राज्य इकाई की ओर से जमीयत उलेमा राजस्थान के अध्यक्ष मौलाना हबीबुल्लाह कासमी, नाज़िम-ए-तंजीम मौलाना मोहम्मद इलियास कासमी, मौलाना नूर मोहम्मद, मौलाना मलूक, शेर मोहम्मद, मौलाना हाशिम, मौलाना अली मोहम्मद तथा अन्य स्थानीय पदाधिकारी भी उपस्थित रहे।
