Mufti Ahmed Devla was a prominent Islamic scholar and community leader. He had graduated from Jamiah Islamiyah Talimuddin, Dabhel, graduating in 1969. He taught at various Islamic institutions, including Darul Uloom Lunawada and Darul Uloom Matliwala, where he also served as Head Mufti.
He founded leading educational institute ‘Jamiah Uloomul Quran’ in Jambusar. He is also a member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Islamic Fiqhi Academy New Delhi. He was also the Chief Editor of the Gujarati magazine AL BALAG.
Beyond his scholarly work, Mufti Devla was deeply involved in social welfare. He established several madrasas, mosques, and provided interest-free loans for small businesses. He was instrumental in leading disaster relief efforts and opposing policies that targeted madrasas. His contributions to Islamic education, social reform, and community service have left a profound legacy in Gujarat. He has been associated with JUH and involved in its activities since his early age. He served as vice president of Jamiat Ulama Gujarat for long and later in 2022, he was elevated as the Vice President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind.
